WHEELBASE NOTES: The wheelbase on the real deal is 107.5''. The wheelbase of the Fiero after you stretch the car 12" will be 105.4'' which is only 2.1'' shorter than the real deal. The wheelbase factor on the GT1 kit is its primary advantage, because you end up with a longer wheelbase car than the GT2 version. The GT1 version is very close to the real deal. The photo of the modified Fiero donor car with the orange front bumper is an example of how you can support the fiberglass replica kit on the donor car by welding tubular steel as the support frames for the kit. These kits come with a removable hard-top only.

I suggest the donor car be slightly damaged because the sheet metal will not be used on the finished kit and you will save a lot of money by using a damaged donor car. All unused body parts can be resold as scrap or on ebay as reusable body parts.

There is no additional metal work required for the fiero after you stretch the body of the donor car.

You will keep the factory windshield on the Fiero, donor car for your GT1 replica car.

Interior: for the GT #1. Kit that goes on a fiero you will also receive a 6 pc. Set interior kit. The console is 3 pieces and the dash is made up of 2 pieces which is the big dash and a glove box, you will use the fiero seats, also there is fiberglass piece for the steering wheel to make it look like it has an airbag.

The fiero doors will be used and you will screw an outer body kit panel on the doors to make the doors look like the finished gt kit. The hood is made up of two pieces an outer and an inner panel and it will go on the fiero body.

Upgrade interior at any upholstery shop by making the center part of the seats and the top insert parts of the door panels the same color as the finished car or leave the interior one color.

Some people add a carbon fiber dash kit off ebay to the donor for about $40.00.

The GT1 kit comes in two versions. The first version has the hood and trunk lid that looks like the GT2 version. For $250.00 more you can get the GT1-HUMPED version and that means that the hood and the trunk will have the big, aero-dynamic looking humps on the hood and the trunk.
